The Woodsman’s Thatch
Though born of the imagination, The Woodsman’s Thatch is based on real cottages I’ve sketched during my travels in England. The design of this cottage features two rooms on the ground floor and a loft for sleeping. You can tell by the light in the window above the door that a child is probably reading fanciful stories before going to sleep. As I worked on this painting, I wanted to enhance the feeling of coziness that seems to be the central mood, so I added a misty rain to lend softness and charm. After all, what could be more cozy than a glowing cottage set in a misty forest?
Thomas Kinkade
- Morning Light Lake from the Thomas Kinkade Vault is the second in the Lakeside Hideaway Collection – the first painting was Lakeside Hideaway – in a series that celebrates quiet moments enjoyed together on a lake.
- Morning Light Lake is a reminder of the importance of beloved serenity and new beginnings.
- The light-filled cabin and the American flag symbolize pride of place, and two Adirondack chairs wait calmly for the most beautiful show on Earth to begin.
- Morning Light Lake features nature looking on in the form of ducks, a fox peeking out of the brush, rabbits nibbling soft grass, and geese flying overhead. Lake life and activities are portrayed through a docked boat with fishing gear, a BBQ ready for grilling, and firewood stacked neatly nearby.
- Hidden across the lake are other cabins that share this amazing view – each with their own stories that will be featured in future releases in the Lakeside Hideaway Collection.
