Wailing Wall, Jerusalem
The Wailing Wall, Jerusalem expresses the devotion of the believers who come here to pray. Several formally dressed Orthodox Jewish men join with others in modern dress to cry out to their God. Some will press notes into the cracks – others will fold their messages into shrubs that grow in the shade of these ancient stones.
The impulse of the visitors is not to intrude on the passion of these pilgrims. In The Wailing Wall, Jerusalem I have tried to keep a respectful distance from the faithful, while rendering the light and drama of this historic location.
- In early 2006, Thomas Kinkade visited the Holy Land where he spent much of his time painting in order to capture the emotion and the vibrancy of this ancient land.
- Thom is honored to be the commemorative artist for the spectacular touring exhibit: From Abraham to Jesus, September 2006 through December 2008.
- Share these experiences through Thom’s magnificent collection of images called Impressions of Israel.
