If a cottage reflects its owner, then judging from the profusion of lights surrounding this cottage, the owner must be very cheery indeed. Lights are always a favorite subject of mine, especially when they seem to beckon me towards a cozy setting.
The thatching on this cottage is also of note, being that lovely greyish tone that denotes age. It seems that thatch, which consists of straw or reeds, has a golden amber color when first applied – but with age mellows into a cool gray appearance.
The lights along this walkway in The Lit Path not only beckon, they light they way – which is especially needful for steps that, in typical English fashion, seem as irregular as the ground they traverse.
