Spring Gate
I’m returning to the subject – in a new season – with Spring Gate. This heroically-sized painting launches a new series that promises to follow our familiar path to reveal the glories of the season of rebirth.
I have portrayed a massive wrought iron gate framed by overgrown, weathered, crumbling stone pillars that suggest the rich human history of the grounds beyond. It’s spring, and nature rejoices at its rejuvenation of springtime flora with a lavish abundance of flowers. The rainbow of spring colors is made up of delphinium, hollyhocks and climbing roses. What a lovely and fragrant spring bouquet.
- In an ongoing and loving tribute to his wife Nanette, Thomas Kinkade has hidden seven N’s in Spring Gate.
- Spring Gate is the first painting in Thom’s new series – the Spring Gate Collection.
- Ever since Thom painted Autumn Gate, he has been fascinated with inviting mystery of gates.
- He painted springtime flora in Spring Gate – including delphiniums, hollyhocks, dogwoods, and roses.
