Guardian Castle
Guardian Castle is my collaboration with the brilliant miniaturist David Winter, which marks the first time that I’ve ever worked with another artist. I was captivated by Winter’s miniature castle sculpture – so grand and regal – that is seemed to call for a heroic, naturalistic landscape as its proper setting. Anchored to its rugged hillside in England’s mountain country, Guardian Castle commands the valley and the peaceful village nestled below.
- Both Thomas Kinkade and David Winter thought that it would be a great idea to work on a project together. With this thought in mind, Winter created the castle that Thom placed in this idyllic setting in Guardian Castle.
- Guardian Castle marks the first time ever Thom has done a collaboration with another artist. He loved Winter’s miniature castle and so decided to paint an English mountainside scene based on this miniature sculpture.
- In true form of collaboration – since Winter hides a mouse in every figurine he produces much like Thom hides N’s for his wife Nanette – Thom hid a mouse in Guardian Castle.
