Dusk in the Valley
A dramatic sunset paints the great sentinel mountain peaks that guard a peaceful and fertile farm. A rim of gold rings the horizon, lighting the mighty granite up-thrusts of rock and touching farm and fields with a special radiance. Dusk has taken hold of the lower reaches of the mountains and near the foreground, plunging them into shade.
Fences lend a touch of order to the valley, and suggest a comfortable human presence; grazing cattle are a symbol of rural tranquility and a reminder of simpler times. However, the scene in Dusk in the Valley is not all tranquil. There is drama and energy courtesy of a blazing, golden sunset that seems almost to be a celestial spotlight shining down from Heaven.
- Dusk in the Valley is part of Thomas Kinkade’s Archive Collection, where he painted the original many years ago – in this case, the mid 1980’s.
