Christmas Memories

Recently I set myself a challenge: to convey the spirit of Christmas without relying on snow. After all, my own California Christmases weren’t white.

In Christmas Memories – the first painting in my new series celebrating the joyous festivity of an earlier and more gracious era – one of California’s great historic houses shows its festive holiday face. Colorful lights spill out from the huge Christmas tree onto surrounding bushes and shrubs as tethered horses await the close of festivities. I hope that even without snow my Christmas Memories will capture the festive spirit of Christmas.
