The Ice Age film franchise is an exciting opportunity for us at the Thomas Kinkade Studios capturing in art and honoring Thom’s love of fine cartooning while recognizing this critically acclaimed series of films. Join us as we journey with Manny, Sid, Diego, and Scrat as they make their way in a rapidly changing world, encountering new friends and adventures all along the way. Look carefully about this beautiful background composition of earth, ice and light and you will discover many of the delightful characters who have so enchanted us for almost a generation.
In 2002, when Thom first saw the original Ice Age film, he talked of the movie’s significance in heralding a new golden age of full-length feature animating. We at the Thomas Kinkade Studios hope you enjoy visiting the cool, blue wonderland of Manny and friends as much as we enjoyed re-creating it for you.

- Ice Age is the first Limited Edition release from the Thomas Kinkade Studios created in partnership with 20th Century Fox.
- The Thomas Kinkade Studios included elements and characters from all four Ice Age films in the painting.
- A fifth Ice Age film is currently in development and is planned to release in July 2016.
- The roadant character is named ‘Scrat’. His name is a combination of the words ‘squirrel’ and ‘rat’ as Scrat has characteristics of both species.
- In the films, Manny is referred to by many different names including: Manfred, Manny, that neeny weeny mammoth, manny the Moody Mammoth, Manny the Melancholy, friend, Jumbo, the mammoth, Fat Hair Boy, and buddy.
- According to an interview, Denis Leary’s character Diego originally died near the end of the film, which caused the test audience of children to burst into tears, so it was re-done.
